This was taken by my wife, Collette when we were out taking photos of poppies earlier in the year.

Head under the dark cloth focusing the wooden box :D

Hi there Glen, nice to see you in action with your 'wooden box'. Looks like a lot of fun.... Thanks for Collette for taking this shot. Do you have any of the poppy pics to share?

You should have asked Collette to process this in black and white as it would have been more in keeping with the vintage theme

Now there's an idea, maybe with a sepia tone as well :)

Unfortunately not. I was getting the hang of calculating exposure so the 4 shots I did take, 2 were over exposed and the other 2 were under exposed. :(

Nice to see the box in action :)

Out of interest, do you keep a digital P&S handy to validate exposure settings? I have read about people using a P&S that has manual setting to replace the traditional polaroid exposures.

Some times I take a P&S with me but for taking shots when I don't feel it's worth a sheet of 5x4. What I do use is a pentax spot meter to determine the shadow EV and from that I determine the mid EV by adding 2 stops. Velvia 100F, 100 and 50 have a DR of approx 4 stops. Now I'm looking at trying Kodak Portra 160 because from what I have read that film has a DR of approx 10-11 stops with it being a negative rather than a transparency.
