Its one more red grouse than i have got. :)
Looks like the camera performs quite well at higher ISO, the background is a bit noisy but it can bew sorted with some noise reduction

If you dont have any noise reduction software Russell its worth taking a look at Topaz Denoise 5. They do a trial on a full working copy for 14 days which gives you
plenty of time to work some real images. I was impressed enough to buy it its also very simple to use.

cool, I usually use the noise reduction with LR3 but not sure if you can selectively apply it .... I need to look into it a bit .... but to be honest if the image is too noisy I normally scrap it.

Noise issue aside Russell, that is a good image. I like the eye contact and the out of focus foreground.

Maybe crop a touch off the right hand side and left hand side to tighten it up a touch. That would be my personal preference.

Cheers

I like the image, with the head popping up above the heather.

Looks like there is a nice mix of colours, water droplets and the grouse with a head turn. So close, shame the light ran out on you...Basil....
