Hi Weaver, sorry for the delay commenting on your shots.

I like the final one of this set the most. You've got good feather detail here and I'm a sucker for a nice shot of a mallard. The only thing to watch in a shot like this is the background. Had you spotted the legs of the pontoon behind when you took the shot it may have been possible to move clockwise to avoid their reflections. It's a pretty minor issue here though.

The second shot doesn't really work for me as there's no real focal point in the image. A shot like this needs something for the eye to alight on, either an interesting feature in the landscape or some other item of interest.

The first shot had potential, the idea of having a bird in the foreground with an out of focus landscape in the background is a good one and can be used to good effect. It's a shame the gull has an amputated foot though as this detracts from the image a little for me.

In your third shot, the foreground is too busy and obliterates far too much of the subject so doesn't work for me.

Hi Weaver, Claire has already covered all of my own thoughts exactly so I can't add anything else. :)

Hi Weaver, welcome back :)

The idea of the gull and the eye level position were strong. Raising your shutter speed and ISO would have made it a bit easier to freeze any wind movement.

In the second your peak as the main focal point is vertically on the third, but very central and dominant, a wider shot setting it off to the left or right so the eye moves along a horzion along to it could help add interest

I think your peek a boo shot is cute and well done for getting the focus on through all the foliage, however the green leaf does cause a bit of a problem and there is quite a bit of noise in the image.

I agree your mallard shot is the strongest image, there's great eye contact and you are on eye level with the subject. The water ripples and reflections make an atrractive but not too distracting background - nice :cheers
