During my first visit to Florida I became fascinated by the hunting and diving behaviour of the brown pelicans, which often hunted in pairs and dived in synchrony into a shoal of fish.
I was desperate to capture one in its vertical dive right before it hit the sea. For me that was quite a challenge as they gain velocity quickly and tuck their head in as they're about to enter the water. After a huge number of images of pelican bodies with splashes instead of heads that had vanished under water, I finally managed to grab this shot. Its not a perfect image but a great moment to have captured.
