This image was taken in 2010, a bumper year for common blues in the south of the UK. It's of a female common blue butterfly basking in the morning sun and was shot in Letcombe Village Nature Reserve, a small wild patch of land at the bottom of the Oxfordshire Ridgeway. Its one of my favourites because I like the symmetry of the butterfly's pose and the background is of swaying grassheads.
