This summer one of the barley field verges outside my village was covered in a beautiful swathe of common poppies. They were perfect just for a few short days before a summer storm broke. At dusk one night I managed to quickly capture this shot while returning to my car just after the sun had set. A couple of seconds later the vivid red sky had paled to a faint pastel shade. I love this shot because it reminds me how beautiful, fleeting and ephemeral the world can be.
This is really gorgeous Kiri! One of my favorites of your work.
Lovely image. Poppies are my favourite flower - and come May/June spend most of my time trying to find them (mostly unsuccessfully!). This is a different take on the classic poppy image - I hope you have it framed on your wall.
Thanks Stephen, they are really beautiful flowers. I haven't printed many images, but this is one I have and its got pride of place in my living room
