This beautiful first year female Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) is one of a pair that has set up territory here in my hometown of Nashua. It's a very exciting time for our birding community in southern New Hampshire as this is the first breeding pair here in my lifetime. They didn't raise young last spring, not unusual with a first year bird, but we are looking forward to and hoping for fledglings next spring. This shot is from last spring when the female was in her juvenile plumage. My friend and I have kept track of our Nashua Peregrines since they moved into town January of 2011 and continue to report our observations to Chris Martin, Senior Biologist for New Hampshire Audubon's Peregrine Recovery Project.

This is one of my favourite images on the whole site :)
