We occasionally get some pretty dreadful ice storms here in NH where the ice can build up to the point where there are downed trees and power lines everywhere. We lost power for four days during this storm. I spent an entire day out in my hide observing and taking photos of my garden birds dealing with the ice build-up. They never kept still and continuously shifted from foot to foot. I'm assuming to prevent from freezing to the perches. This lovely American Tree Sparrow (Spizella arborea) perched in my Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum "Dissectum Atropurpureum") for this winter image.
